How to become a NET instructor

How to become a NET volunteer

Instructors

We like to think that our instructors are some of the finest telemark instructors in the country. All of our full instructors are PSIA certified and have years of teaching experience. And as any good instructor will tell you, there is always more to learn. NET continues to train and hone it's instructor's skills throughout the season.

How can you become a New England Telemark instructor? We have three different kinds or 'stages' for instructors; Full, Associate and Apprentice. A full instructor needs to be an expert skier, capable of handling all conditions with expertise. He or she needs at least two years of hands on teaching in a PSIA certified ski school. Full instructors are expected to have at least a level 1 PSIA certification. An associate instructor is an experienced instructor teaching for NET for the first time. Associate instructors work for one or two years before becoming full instructors. Apprentice instructors are expert skiers learning to become instructors. They assist full instructors in clinics and train with NET instructors throughout the season.

Every year NET holds training and tryouts in November at Sunday River, Maine. If you are interested in becoming a NET instructor or would like to learn more... contact Biff at biff (at) netelemark.com

Volunteers

At every NET festival you will see folks helping out fitting boots, skis, putting up banners, judging races and working the desk. These guys are the backbone of the festivals. Without our volunteers the fests just would not happen. NET has a core group of volunteers that go to every festival but we are always in need of a few extras at each event. Volunteers are expected to work at least half the day. The rest of the day they receive a free lift ticket to go out and ski and join the festivities. It's a pretty sweet deal. The core group also joins the instructors on the free training days and of course the end of season on slope party.
